The method is to allow a portion of the wing near trailing edge to flutter in high speed, rendering it unaccountable for development of lift, but still accountable for drag (in my opinion). I believe is called reflex because the trailing edge will flex up in high speed. The speed gain is minimal though.
Are reflex Wings safe?
Although a reflex wing is much more resistant to collapses, they can still happen if flown in strong turbulence. If pilots get lulled into a false sense of security and start flying in stronger conditions, they could end up in serious trouble. … The wing is very stable in this mode, but not if the brakes are pulled.
How does a paramotor wing work?
As you learned earlier, the wing will inflate as it is moved forwards. So in order to launch a paramotor, the wing must be pulled into the air with enough force to inflate it, and to keep it flying over the pilots head.
